Cooperative Learning as a Socialising Method in Primary Education
A Student Perspective
Keywords:
cooperative learning, Primary Education, methodology, case studyAbstract
This research is based on a mixed-method case study, contextualised and applied to a Primary Education school in the Region of Murcia. It aims to analyse pupils’ perspectives on the influence of cooperative learning (CL) as a socialising method that fosters peer interaction and provides educational benefits for the group as a whole. In line with this objective, a total of 100 pupils from the same school took part in the study, all from Years 3 to 6 of Primary Education. A questionnaire was administered for data collection purposes. The findings reveal that the effective implementation of cooperative learning inherently involves pupils taking on both individual and shared responsibilities. This promotes enriching opportunities that lead to improvements in the learners’ personal, cooperative, and social skills.
