Abstract

Both rural and public school have undergone attempts to be controlled since their origins due to their democratic, public and innovative nature. In order to collaborate in the debate of an emancipatory Rural Education, we seek to reflect on public policies in rural education, their main challenges and how to interpret them from the perspective of Education Law. To this end, we used as a method a comparative reading while focusing on the concepts employed by Masschelein and Simons (2013) in In Defence of School: A Public Issue.
