Abstract

These pages reflect on the consideration of museums as educational institutions, their responsibility, and pedagogical potential for building social and environmental awareness through art and culture. We focus on the Salesian Missions Museum and what takes place there, within the framework of European strategies currently funding several projects and the project financed by the community of Madrid, which strengthens the museum's programming. In conjunction, both the projects and the current exhibition on the amazonia constitute successful experiences and best practices in terms of innovative cultural and pedagogical proposals on the path toward environmental education.
