Abstract

In this paper we present a few experiments in acoustics. This is the opening article of a series of papers, devoted to illustrate the basic principles that govern the fundamental processes. The proposed experiments are designed in order to be performed with common, readily available materials. They are inspired in the original observations made by great scientists to formulate the Laws of Science, such as the lamp oscillations of the Cathedral of Pisa, the falling of the Newton's apple, the Mendel's peas or the Darwin's finches. The aim of this article is twofold: to show up the underlying fundamental facts in a useful way and to give the teachers clues to prepare elementary science experiments to be performed in the classroom.
